VIDEO: Tourists slammed for climbing into giant hole in social media prank
Tourists have been slammed for climbing into a giant hole at a beach to film a social media video.
Three members of the rock band Nago put chairs inside the deep hole.
The young men looked relaxed in the video, which has attracted 1.7m views since it was shared on Monday (5 May).
The group said the video was made for fun and they used the hole to shield themselves from the wind.
The video was captioned: “POV: It’s windy, but you don’t want to be a screen person.”
But social media users called the prank “dangerous”.
And one said the men should have considered that the sand could have “slipped”.
Amid the backlash, the band defended their video, as reported by NeedToKnow.
An unnamed member of the band said: “To be clear, it really looks more dangerous on that video.
“The video was filmed with a fisheye lens so the hole looks deeper than it really was.
“It was built in a way which minimised the chance of collapse.
“We sat there for like two minutes just to make the video for social media
“There were five of our friends outside monitoring what was happening at all times.
“It is a classic example of ‘Don’t believe everything you see on social media’.”
The video was filmed on a beach in Jastarnia, a resort town in Puck County, Pomeranian Voivodship, northern Poland.
Nago’s video received a total of 585 comments.
Camilla said: “People have no imagination.”
A second viewer said: “I once heard that digging on the beach above 1m is punishable, so I was lucky.”
“People, don't do this. It might just fall apart while they're sitting there,” added Izabela.
Dariusz said: “The first thing that comes to mind is that the sand is sliding.”
“By the way, you didn't take into account what would happen if the sand slipped,” a fifth viewer added.
