A photographer spent eight hours hiding in branches to capture these rare images of a shy bird feeding his chicks. The male black hooded oriole was pictured in a garden in Kolaghat, West Bengal, India. Snehasish Pramanik, 24, said, "I visited one of my friends and while we were roaming in their garden we came across the nest. As Black Hooded Oriole is a shy type of bird, they had made their nest in a tree about 15ft from the ground. The location of the nest was in a really dark area making it tricky to capture such actions. Using a mirrorless camera I was able to push my iso higher to properly expose the images." "I set up my tripod behind some small branches to hide myself from the bird, allowing me to capture these beautiful moments of nature from a close distance. It took me about 8 hrs to get these images as they do not allow humans to approach close so hiding myself helped." "As the chicks were grown up a bit, the father had to provide food very frequently until evening. Generally both of the parents do the feeding but in this case the mother no longer seemed to be around. Despite this in the absence of the mother, the father had taken to the responsibility of feeding the three chicks." The place was really dark to capture such actions. I am using a mirrorless camera that's why I pushed my iso higher to properly expose those images. The weather was not good that day, was very moist and dull, not even proper lighting. I set up my tripod behind some small branches to hide myself, that's how I could capture those beautiful moments of nature from that close. It took me about 8 hrs to get those images. As the chicks were grown up a bit, the father had to provide food very frequently until evening. Generally both of the parents do the feeding but somehow in absence of the mother, the father has taken the responsibility of feeding those three chicks. On that particular day I saw that only the father was feeding and the mother was not totally absent. The behavior is not that usual because both of the parents of oriole feed. Somehow the mother was not present there for a long time that's why the father had to take that responsibility, as the chicks were starving for a long time. The wonderful role play of nature was the most amazing thing I ever witnessed. Even in humans many of us distinguish between the duties of male and females, like females would serve for the house the entire time whereas the male only work outside to make wealth, majority of the time we do not share our work. But, surprisingly these creatures share their roles and duties in absence of each other. These sensitive values of their livelihood striked me. And I think, humans must follow their values for a better livelihood.
