Mr Sanit stands in what was previously a rubber plantation. But due to the breaking of a storage pond at a nearby 'recycling' factory which flooded the surrounding area with polluted water runoff, everything has died. The ground is now heavily contaminated with dangerous chemicals and remains one of Thailand's worst cases of environmental pollution. Mr Sanit was instrumental in collecting photographic and video evidence of the pollution over the years. Locals villagers in the village of Nong Pawa have been fighting for the closure of a recycling plant for over 10 years which has severely polluted the surrounding land due to its lack of safety precautions and poor maintenance. Now closed down, the struggle continues to pressure the government to force the owner of the factory to clean and restore the surrounding environment.
