A hall of mirrors served as a backdrop for Anya Hindmarch today as the handbag designer unveiled a collection dedicated to the British high street. Borrowing design codes from a host of our best loved retailers, the accessory maven showcased bags printed with John Lewis's iconic green chevron stripes and the well-known Never Knowingly Undersold motto while shoes boasting Mothercare's iconic logo also raised a smile. A homage to Nationwide through the inclusion of neat clutch bags and leather bomber jackets featuring the brand's familiar blue house motif was among the most playful on the catwalk. The English designer, who prides herself on her quintessentially British aesthetic, deviated momentarily from her patriotism to celebrate the iconography of French supermarket chain Carrefour which appeared on neat shoulder bags with metal chains and sculpted neoprene sweatshirts.
