Tybetańczycy - Redux
Recently, Tibetans in parts of Ganzi have adopted Chinese-style upturned eaves. Traditionally, the ground floor of Tibetan houses were for keeping livestock, the second floor was for the family and the roof or third floor was used, in this relatively dry region for drying and storing crops. Originally roofs were flat, as seen on the right. As Khampas in this region have become wealthier from government subsidies, the harvest and sale of traditional medicines, including caterpillar fungus or delicacies like matsutake mushrooms, they've grown less dependent on agriculture. Chinese-style roofs have become aesthetically desirable.
