(NYT8) UNDATED -- Feb. 19, 2001 -- ARCHIE-COMICS-LAWSUIT -- Acclaimed comic book artist Dan DeCarlo, 81, left, spent most of his working life working for Archie Comic Publications. DeCarlo drew the characters for a popular comic book called Archie. Presently, DeCarlo finds himself without fame, fortune or even a pension and has now taken legal steps to claim some of the characters he has drawn, including Josie, the leader of the all-female band called the Pussycats. Archie Comics says they own all the rights to the characters. A photo of DeCarlo and his wife Josie in costume in the 1960s. (The New York Times)*LITE
