Mitts is in favor of Wal-Mart coming to her community. The Chicago City Council met in the Council Chambers and refused, Wednesday, May 5, 2004, to approve zoning changes that would have allowed Wal-Mart to open its first two stores in Chicago. This less than a month after voters in Inglewood Calif, rejected Wal-Mart's effort to build a store there.
