Święte miejsca z życia Buddy - Redux
Kushinagar, the place where Buddha breathed his last breath. During the 6th century BC the north of India was politically divided into several states. One of the kings who reigned over one of the states was King Suddhodana, leader of the ??kyas, an independent kingdom at the foothills of the Him?layas. King Suddhodana was the father of Siddhartha Gautama, who would become Lord Buddha, the founder of one of the religions most diffused and ancient in the world today: Buddhism. The birth of Siddhartha (563 BC) happened during a trip by his mother Queen Maya traveling towards her father's kingdom to give birth. However, she gave birth on the way. A Buddhism text says: "Just at the moment of birth, Queen Maya stops in a garden under the shade of a sal tree in the forest near a village and after bathing in a pond, she bore the child clinging to the twig of a tree". That village was LUMBINI, a city in the south of Nepal. At the age of 29, Siddhartha left the city for the first time. After meeting an old man, a sick person, and a corpse; he abandoned his life marked by luxury and comfort in order to devote himself to fasting for meditation. After spending 49 days meditating under a Bodhi tree in the indian city of BODHGAYA, Siddhartha attained enlightenment - the fundamental understanding of human being. He then went to SARNATH (India) to give the first speech that marked the birth of Buddhism. Renamed Buddha (the enlightened), Siddhartha spent the next years teaching the Buddhist practice of non-extremism: the "middle way", which advocates a path of moderation away from the excesses of self-indulgence. Buddha died in 480 BC at the age of 80 in KUSHINAGAR (India), the last of the four sites that are linked to the most significant stages of his rise to "enlightened". According to a Buddhist text, of his death; "the earth shook, the stars fell from the sky, the sky exploded in flames in 10 directions and air was filled with celestial music." All the places associa
