Afghanistan, Kabul, 24 August 2021 Asylum seekers jump over a coil of concertina wire separating a road that runs parallel to Hamid Karzai International Airport, Kabul, on its northern side, and the gate through which thousands of Afghans are trying to enter. They are among the tens of thousands who have attempted to gain entry to the airport, and to then board evacuation flights since the Taliban took control of the Afghan capital on August 15. Even those with valid travel documents, however, have found it incredibly difficult to navigate the treacherous paths and gateway to the airport, where Taliban fighters, U.S. Marines, British soldiers and Afghan paramilitary units control access. The northwestern gate, today, was controlled by the notorious CIA-backed paramilitary unit known as 01. Late today, after the unsuccessful mission to the airport, Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesman, declared that Afghans wanting to flee the country would be forbidden from accessing the airport. Cependant, meme les personnes munies de documents de voyage valides ont eprouve d'enormes difficultes r se frayer un chemin dans les sentiers perilleux et r franchir les portes de l'aeroport, dont l'acccs est contr?le par des combattants talibans, des marines americains, des soldats britanniques et des unites paramilitaires afghanes.
