United Kingdom, Manchester, 29 March 2018 From the series ??Bible Hunters?? The St John's fragment in The Rylands Gallery of the John Ryland Library, one of the main display areas where they show highlights from the collections. The St John's fragment has the status of an icon and relic for many people. The fragment is a piece of the New testament (18th chapter of John's gospel), a passage where Christ is being questioned by Pontius Pilatus (a crucial part of the gospel story). Written on pyres and bought from Egypt, it dates from the first half of the second century AD which would make it arguably the earliest surviving piece of the Testament. The Rylands Gallery is designed to show the breadth of the material and bring out the treasures of the collection. Paolo Verzone / Agence VU
