A devotee touches the holy statue as a symbol of devotion. The pilgrimage of "fujenti" ends when "teams" entering the shrine after the procession carrying their blessed statue of the Virgin Mary . Hundreds of thousand of pilgrims crowd the small village of Sant'Anastasia, Naples, to celebrate the miracle of the "Madonna Dell'Arco" who bled from the cheek. Pilgrims walk from neighboring villages and Naples, some walk more than 35 miles, bringing along the whole family. It's a tradition to cover the distance barefoot.
