The procession of the "fujenti" happens every Easter Monday at St. Anastasia, Naples. Many of the devotees carry on their shoulders statues of the Virgin Mary for many kilometers. According to tradition the pilgrims should wear white clothes and walk barefoot. Hundreds of thousand of pilgrims crowd the small village of Sant'Anastasia, Naples, to celebrate the miracle of the "Madonna Dell'Arco" who bled from the cheek. Pilgrims walk from neighboring villages and Naples, some walk more than 35 miles, bringing along the whole family.
