Niemieckie obozy koncentracyjne
PHOTO: EAST NEWS/AFP (FILES) Picture taken in 1942 shows Jewish deportees in the Drancy transit camp, their last stop before the German concentration camps. Some 13,152 Jews were rounded up 16-17 July 1942, by French police forces, in Paris from their homes and taken in buses to the "Vel d'Hiv", or winter cycling stadium in southwestern Paris. Then were later taken to a rail terminal at Drancy, northeast of the French capital, and then deported to the east. Only a handful returned. Those in Europe who escaped the Nazi holocaust were herded into refugee camps and some, with organized Zionist help, tried to reach Palestine.
