Adult spotted lanternflies on grape vines at Setter Ridge Vineyard. Adults tend to feed together in large clusters. In addition to the stress this puts on the host plant, spotted lanternflies excrete a sugary substance called "honeydew" that encourages the growth of sooty black mold in the area surrounding where they are feeding.
