Mina Farmen Bertheussen works on a crane 60 metres high, having to climb a ladder to reach her ‘office’ in the sky. The 29-year-old settled on the unique career choice in August 2020 after struggling to find working during lockdown. “I decided I had to think outside the box,” Mina, from Oslo, told What's The Jam. “I decided on crane operator because the construction industry was not as affected by Covid as other industries, and they needed people living in Norway because international workers were not able to get into the country. “So it was the perfect time to do this and I got a job right away. “People are usually surprised [by my job]. “They usually think it’s very cool and ask a lot of questions.” Mina has gone viral on TikTok answering popular questions followers ask her, with the post garnering 850,000 views. In the clip, which shows Mina up in the crane operating it, she says: “The most frequently asked question is how do I go to the bathroom when I’m at work. “Well, there is no bathroom up here. “I use a bottle if I have to pee. “If I have to do number two, I climb down. “And no – there’s no problem in reaching the bathroom in time! “How often do you not reach the bathroom when you need to go number two? “You usually can hold it in until you get there – at least I can.” Another popular question was asking how she reaches the top Mina responds: “In order to get up to the crane I have to climb a ladder, or in my case it’s just like many smaller ladders, about six metres each ladder.” She estimates it takes her nine minutes to reach the crane, which is 60 metres tall.
