Customer Service Associate Jackie Epstein (28) originally from Cebu, Philippines and her retired scientist husband Dave Epstein (70) from Oakland, California met in 2016 in the Philippines when Dave found Jackie's profile on dating site Cherry Blossoms but Jackie faces being called a “grandchild” of her beloved Dave with some sickos even asking if he adopted her. Jackie bravely responds to these jibes by posting videos of her and Dave showing public affection and love, to the chagrin of their haters. Cherry Blossoms is the oldest and one of the largest international social networking companies. It was established in 1974 as a catalogue specialising in women from Asia and ladies picked out by men were then known disparagingly as “mail order brides.” The agency printed catalogues of "personals" listings, selling addresses to customers who were then able to correspond directly with the women. Eventually, photographs supplemented text listings, then colour photographs were added. As of 2001, Cherry Blossoms had evolved entirely to a web-based format. Dave was in Cebu, Philippines on vacation when he came across Jackie's profile. He asked if they could meet in person and she agreed, their first date was at a local Starbucks. The couple got married in February 2018 and have been going strong in their marriage for almost six years now. There are the doubters who accuse Jackie of being a gold digger and only marrying Dave to get a green card to the United States. The couple have shared their love online and have received some nasty comments including that Dave is Jackie's grandad, calling her mentally ill and asking if he ordered her or adopted her. Luckily Jackie and Dave have had a lot of support from their family and friends but sharing their journey online has led to some haters. “My family and friends are very supportive about our relationship. They have never commented on the age gap between us,” she said. “They can tell we love each other and I think your family and friends just want you to be happy and Dave and I share a happy life so there is no reason for them to not support it. “I don’t really mind about the negative comments like I am a gold digger, green card digger, because Dave and I know that it is not true. “We have an account on TikTok to share our story, we have almost 50,000 followers and over 300,000 likes. “We will keep sharing our relationship because we are proud of it, an age gap isn't something to be ashamed of, who cares how old your partner is. “We have people reaching out online saying we inspired them to go public with their age gap relationship or to start dating someone older or younger they may not have previously considered. “Then it is all worth it, to inspire people to be their authentic selves and live a life that makes them happy, we are doing some good as long as we are doing that. “You can see on our profile there are plenty of comments calling me a mail order bride or asking if Dave is my grandad or if he adopted me from the Philippines, I respond to some with videos just for fun. “I never mean anything to them because Dave and I know what they are saying isn't true, it doesn't upset me at all. I think it's just an opportunity for us to have a laugh at ourselves and show off that we love each other. Our relationship is as simple as that.” Dave and Jackie love each other very much and enjoy sharing a life together, they have already been an inspiration to other age gap couples and hope to continue spreading the positive message that love is love and age is just a number. “Dave and I have a lot in common.
