007 star Roger Moore hosted lavish celebrations at his son's new restaurant Shumi to celebrate his knighthood last month (Oct 10). In pictures that have only just been released for syndication, Sir Roger Moore is seen at a party attended by 50 close family and friends. 76-year-old Sir Roger was bestowed with the knighthood for his tireless volunteer work for UNICEF, which helps sick and needy children all around the world. Speaking about the award, he said: "This honour is for my work with UNICEF. I will have to wait another hundred years for a knighthood for acting - and go back to RADA!" He added that he much preferred a knighthood to an Oscar, which he said he was never likely to get anyway. Among the guests to offer their congratulations to the actor were three fellow recipients of the royal honour: Sir Sean Connery, Sir Michael Caine Sir Roger, who famously assumed the role of secret agent 007 in no less than seven Bond films, was delighted when fellow James Bond star Sir Sean Connery congratulated him. "Not before time," Sir Sean said of his friend's award, hinting it should have come earlier. Sir Michael was also full of praise, saying: "It's wonderful. I couldn't be more pleased."
