Maajid Nawaz is the British Pakistani former member of the radical Islamic political group Hizb ut-Tahrir.
Maajid Nawaz is an ex-member of Hizb ut-Tahrir who studied at Newham College alongside the British writer Ed Husain. He is the director of the Quilliam Foundation.
The Quilliam Foundation was launched with the support of pro-war groups and individuals. The New Labour government has also declared their support of the Quilliam Foundation, it is argued for the propaganda purposes it serves.
Ed Husain, the co-director of the Quilliam Foundation, has gone on record declaring his support for the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, although Ed has held some reservations on aspects of the Iraq occupation thereafter. Maajid denies he holds the opinions of Ed Husain.
