Druga rocznica katastrofy Fukushimy - Redux
Toshifumi Sanpei, age 57, and his wife Keiko, age 54, take lunch during the short return to their former house. Toshifumi and Keiko are both dairy farmers who lived in a complete evacuation zone due to the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster. With government permission, they can return during the day, but they can not stay for long periods of time or over night. Many of the houses and farming fields are abandoned. March 11, 2013 marks the two-year anniversary of the earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan's northeast coast, killing an estimated 15,000 and displacing hundreds of thousands more. The Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear power plant suffered damage to four reactor buildings releasing toxic radioactive materials into the environment forcing mass evacuations.
