Logan???s population has ordered and received more than 50,000 deliveries utilising the firm???s autonomous aircraft in the last eight months alone. The city is one of the fastest growing in Australia, and in 2021 Wing expanded to serve 19 suburbs with a combined population of more than 110,000 people out of Logan???s more than 300,000. As a result, the city has a strong claim to be the drone delivery capital of the world. Globally, Wing has surpassed the 100,000 customer delivery mark. With Logan residents ordering almost 4,500 deliveries in the first week of August - or a drone delivery nearly once every 30 seconds during service hours. Wing, which is owned by Google parent company Alphabet, also operates in Finland and the U.S.However, what makes its operations in Logan unique, is that it offers a live, automated, and on-demand service. When an order comes in, Wing???s software systems send the best aircraft to perform the delivery from among Wing???s multiple operations sites. It utilises software to perform and analyse 15 million simulations each day to determine the best approach to weather and terrain, and continually uses this data to improve delivery to the spot the customer selects, either at their home or in some cases, their office. This technology has enabled those living in Logan to start their days with more than 10,000 cups of fresh barista-made coffee in the last year, delivered right to their homes. As their kids transitioned to remote-learning, parents have ordered more than 1,700 snack packs to keep break times interesting. And the firm has even delivered more than 1,200 hot chooks (that???s Australian for roasted chicken) in time for dinner.
