??BAUER-GRIFFIN.COM The new movie about Princess Diana???s life will change the world???s perception on her final years alive. One of the movie's stars revealed how Diana, starring Naomi Watts, as the Princess of Wales, will reveal exclusive insights into her love affairs with surgeon Hasnat Khan and Dodi Fayed. Star Cas Anvar, who plays movie executive Dodi, reckons the public???s feelings of suspicion about his motives for dating Diana will disappear. Talented Cas spent months investigating Dodi???s past to build his character, who he claims ??sdeeply loved and was committed to Diana.??? He even says Diana considered a full time move to Hollywood. Canadian Cas, who has starred in hits like Argo and Source Code, revealed that Naomi???s performance is so powerful it makes her a real contender for this year???s leading actress Oscar. Producers refused to show the Royals or Al Fayed???s family scripts, but insisted the story would be sympathetic. And they have invited both set of families to the London world premiere on September 5 - five days after the 16th anniversary of Diana???s death. If all the parties go, it would be the first time Al Fayed, The Queen, Wills and Harry had been in the same room. Speaking in Los Angeles, Cas said: ??sDiana is about a story that nobody knows, that is the hook to the whole thing. ??sThis is not the story that everyone has read about in the newspapers. this is a secret love affair that Princess Diana had in the last years of her life with Hasnat Khan. ??sAnd you really get to find out what an incredible woman this Princess was. I didn???t know until I read the script and did this movie, how amazing she was. ??sShe was going through many issues after her split from Charles, raising her sons, but she found love for the first time - what she felt was the real thing. And the movie covers how that played out with Hasnat and the struggles she had with her fame, Royal life and responsibilities. ??sI don???t want to give too much away, but many of her biggest fans will be surprised and shocked. It is a very emotional story.??? The movie covers the Diana???s ??sobsessive??? secret love affair with London based heart specialist Khan for two years from 1995. When he ended their romance, Dodi became her confidante and soon after her lover. In recent days reports emerged that Diana had wanted a daughter with Khan. It is expected the film, due out next month, will deal with Diana???s dreams of having a sister for Wills and Harry will feature, but coy Cas said: ??sIt wouldn???t be right to say too much, but everyone needs to look at the film to take it in the context. ??sI know from my research that Dodi did love Diana, and they planned a future together. ??sDodi???s closest friends say he would have been a good father, generous. warm and kind.??s Diana has been brought to life by Oscar winning actress Naomi Watts, who spent months prepping herself for the role. The Aussie star, also a mother of two, studied Diana???s mannerisms, personality and speech patterns to prepare for the role. "She did an amazing job of capturing the essence of Diana. "Princess Diana had such a physical presence. Her hair and look, she was a stunning woman ??sHer mannerisms, her voice, the way she spoke, her eyes and the way she carried herself. "Everything was completely unique to her. "Naomi did so much work on capturing that. She got every aspect of that down. ??sAnd with the hair and make up, it was a complete transformation to make her a match - they did a really good job.??? Cas claims he was taken aback at the screen transformation. "I met Naomi before we started shooting and we were chumming around, and then I saw on set I didn???t recognize her for a beat. It was like holy smokes. It set my heart pounding. She really was like Diana. "The whole time she didn't break character - it was staggering and shows what a talent she is. "Diana had this unique energy force, which made her so compelling. Naomi has captured that on screen.??? Producers reached out to both Harry and William, Mohammed Al Fayed and Hasnat Khan before the movie started for briefing information. German director Oliver Hirschbiegel didn???t share information about the outcome of those meets with all the cast, but Cas revealed: ??sThey did let them know what was happening and that they would be treating this story with the utmost respect and it is a very delicate issue. ??sI believe Hasnat met with Oliver and privacy was his major concern. A line in the trailer reflects that when he says: ???If I marry you, I have to marry the world as well and that is impossible???. ??sHasnat gave some honest input into the creative process, but knowing how humble he is, having his life on the big screen is probably not something he is super comfortable with, in my opinion. ??sThere were no tensions, but he is a very private person. ??sBut I can say script is beautiful and people are going to love it.??? Cas has sympathy for Diana's children William and Harry, but hopes they will see the film as a celebration of their mother. ??sTheir mom???s private life is being told in a movie - the fact she was the biggest celebrity, a Royal figure and died tragically aside - it would be difficult for anyone to witness that. ??sThe reason it is being made is because Diana was loved by everyone not just her family. ??sHer life became a topic for the public???s curiosity. ??sIf they chose to watch the movie, at some point, I think they will see it honored her and shows as a heroic, uniquely powerful personality in our history.??? The director was given support by Dodi???s father - Egyptian business magnate and former Harrods boss. Since Diana???s death he has publicly attacked the Royals, and accused them of being to blame for the deaths of Dodi and Diana is a French highway tunnel in 1997. Cas added: ??sI didn???t speak to Mohammed, but the producers did and they gave me a little bit of information. ??sMohammed is a very passionate man and he has a lot of opinions. ??sThey let him know we were going to be doing the movie and his son is being treated with respect in the script. ??sHe offered any help and support he could give, but no-one was allowed to read the script - including the Fayed family or the Royals; they all knew about and they all gave their blessing and they said if there is anything we can do, let us know.??? The Royals have been invited to the premiere in London on September 5, but it is unknown if they will attend. Cas admitted: ??sI am sure that they would be invited. ??sIf they did come they wouldn???t be disappointed. ??sIt is authentic. ??sIt is not necessarily going to paint a rosy picture across the board, but it is going to be very honest.??? Smiling he feels cinema-goers will be riveted by Naomi???s performance: ??sI don???t think anyone is going to stand up and say it???s terrible?????? However Wills and Harry needn???t fear, as their appearance is fleeting. ??sWills And Harry are briefly in it. But they have not put a lot of emphasis on the Royals. ??sIt is really about Dodi, Hasnat and her journey.??? Film entrepreneur Dodi has in some circles been portrayed as the man, who broke up Diana and Khan. But Cas insists Diana and Dodi had been close for decades. ??sI was not aware that the general public, especially in Europe, viewed Dodi as a bad guy. and I was quite surprised when I heard it, because that is not how I portrayed him ??sEverything i have read about him with his access to billions and unlimited wealth ended up being a movie producer. ??sWhat I gathered he was a genuine sweet, sincere man. ??sThis is a guy who could do what he wanted, have anyone he wanted and he chose tom put his energy and passion into creating films. ??sHe could have been a typical rich, unsavory, unpleasant guy, because he didn???t have to answer to anyone. ??sBut I have talked dozens of people and they all say he was a kind man. ??sSo what happens in this movie will challenge quite a lot of commonly accepted things that people think about Dodi and Diana. ??sIt is based on a lot of interviews with her close friends and family. ??sDodi was loved with Diana and it will portray the real Dodi. ??sOne thing people don???t know is that they knew each other from childhood and they used to play together as teens. The families knew one another.??? Cas continued: ??sMy main priority was not to create a two dimensional archetype and doing justice to someone whose family and loved ones are still around. ??sThis could change the view of Dodi. If I would have met Dodi, I would have liked him. ??sAnd he genuinely loved Diana. he didn???t have any reason to fake that. ??sAnd Dodi loved the movie industry too. ??sHe hung out with Jack Nicholson, Dustin Hoffman pack and shooting the breeze and that was a big part of his life.??? Cas says friends of Dodi felt that Diana would have built a life in Hollywood if their lives hadn???t ended in Paris. ??sI think she would have liked it here. She and Dodi were similar in the things in life they liked...movies, dining out and travel. They had similar tastes.??? Fans will see Lost star Naveen Andrews play Khan and Douglas Hodge portray butler Paul Burrell. ??sI am Canadian, so we don???t have the same intensity of an attachment to the Royal family. ??sSo I had no idea of what we were getting into I only realized it on my first week of shooting when we were out in Croatia, shooting a scene of Diana with me on Dodi???s yacht. ??sAnd all of a sudden out in the middle of nowhere we are shooting a film with actor paparazzis around and outside of the ring are real paps, shooting us shooting the film. ??sIt is the first movie ever made about Princess Diana. ??sThere were some horrible things done on Tv but people have forgotten those. ??sThis is an Oscar winning director Oliver, a multi- nominated actress playing Lady Diana and an incredible cast, most of who are from London, and an incredibly written script.??? Cas says the levels of performance could mean Naomi collects her second Oscar, and cast and crew also fare well at the ceremony. ??sThis has a huge chance because of the pedigree of the entire team. ??sI am thrilled about it. I came off of Argo, which was exciting enough. I went through the Oscar nomination process and that was fun. ??sThis movie has an incredible pedigree to it. ??sYou can???t compare the content of hostage crises film to the story of the Lady Diana - it has infinite more worldwide appeal, is much deeper and resonant and I think the story is much more profound in terms of what people are gonna see. ??sIt has a great chance at the award season, and Naomi is a great actress. she has worked for this and she has earned this.??? Cas spent four months investigating Dodi???s life and meeting his confidantes in London and LA. Cas said: ??sIt was difficult to research Dodi. ??sThere is nothing on video or radio that I could find. ??sIt was like I was an investigator. ??s And I was trying to figure out his accent and after research I learned he was educated in the States and had an upper class Harvard American accent and a touch mid Atlantic.??? ends August 21, 2013 Job: 130822T1 REHAB www.bauergriffin.com www.bauergriffinonline.com - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - WWW.BAUER-GRIFFIN.COM PRINCESS DIANA AND DODI AL FAYED IN SARDINIA NON-EXCLUSIVE, Aug 30 1997, Sardinia www.bauergriffin.com Job# 01572
