The main square of Yehudia village, near Lydda in Israel, a former Arab village which now houses four thousand newly arrived Jewish immigrants, on April 20, 1949. The village was captured in the Israeli drive to win Lydda airport. Bulgarians, Poles, Greeks, Romanians and Hungarians comprise the population of Yehudia. Almost 15,000 Jewish immigrants are arriving in Israel each month, a rate at which they are expected to continue to arrive for the next four years. (AP Photo)
