A racially charged confrontation in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn in May 1990 over the acquittal of Keith Mondello for the murder of Yusuf Hawkins. NYPD officers were there as Black protesters came to protest in the neighborhood, and watermelons were held and thrown at them. Some of the protesters arrived by bus from Bedford-Stuyvesant.
