Apollo 8 Astronaut James Lovell receives phone call from Pres. Johnson shown in December 1968 after coming on board the U.S.S. Yorktown after a successful mission to the Moon. The Apollo 8 Saturn V was launched from Kennedy Space Center, Florida at 4:41 a.m. EST., Dec. 21, 1968. Astronauts Borman, Lovell & Anders landed in the Pacific Ocean at 7:51 a.m. PST on Dec. 27, 1968, about more 1,000 miles South Southwest of Hawaii.
