When this young lady, being escorted out of City Hall Park in New York City by a policeman on Feb. 7, 1930, came to call on Mayor Walker, she headed a large body of unemployed men and women carrying banners. None of them succeeded in parading into City Hall, as police dispersed the band very quickly. Unemployment insurance and work wore the chief demands made by the banners. (AP Photo)
