EXCLUSIVE: **NO NEW YORK POST OR NEWS CORP USAGES** Talented teen creates paintings of animals so realistic they look like PHOTOS - after using art as an escape from mental health issues A teenager has revealed how she creates hyper-realistic paintings of wildlife animals in the comfort of her bedroom. Caileigh Lambie, 19, from Nova Scotia in Canada, started painting at the age of 13, creating beautiful portraits of animals. The young artist makes stunning 3D masterpieces, featuring elephants, hyenas, giraffes, Komodo dragons, monkeys, birds and dogs ??" and they look almost like photographs. Caileigh started painting to help with mental health issues in her early teens. ??sI???ve always been artistic, but I think art became a real part of my life around age 13,??? Caileigh told Jam Press. ??sThat???s when I started painting wildlife and pets. ??sI struggled with mental health issues and art was an amazing escape from that. It was a form of creative expression that felt so natural to me. ??sI???ve been so drawn to animals for as long as I can remember. I love the unique qualities each species brings and the emotion I can convey through them.??? It takes between two to three weeks to finish her paintings, though her most complex artwork took an entire five weeks to complete. The artist uses acrylic paints on stretched canvas or wood, finishing each piece with a layer of satin varnish to protect it from getting damaged. ??sWhat inspires me the most is how I have the opportunity to bring awareness to any creature I???d like,??? she said. ??sThere are so many beautiful animals and being able to share information and share their beauty with my followers is such an incredible thing. ??sI follow my intuition fully when I???m painting and really think about what emotion is like to convey through my work. ??sThis keeps the inspiration flowing.??? Caileigh hopes that her portraits can raise awareness and shed a light on the need for the conservation of wildlife. ??sI hope that the majority of the recognition goes to the amazing species I???ve captured,??? Caileigh said. ??sWithout them, my art wouldn???t be what it is. ??sThey deserve so much more awareness, so much appreciation in all they do for us and to be honoured fully in our world. ??sEvery creature big and small does something for the planet, and whether that creature is scary or adorable doesn???t make them any more or less valuable. ??sI hope that through my work I can shed light on the beauty every species has, how they are so much more than the label we give them." She added: ??sWildlife is such an integral and beautiful part of our planet, but some species don???t get the recognition they deserve. ??sI hope to bring awareness to the species that are often overlooked as a whole and in the art community.???
