Now, you can ride one too, without having any flight experience and it also won't cost you a fortune. Introducing JetPack Aviation, a company based in Los Angeles, California that is dedicated to helping people fly with the help of their futuristic jet pack. So far, the youngest student was a 23-year-old and the oldest was an 80-year-old, so age is no hindrance. The company was launched by CEO David Mayman, who himself has once taken a spin around the Statue of Liberty ??" to stunned crowds who couldn't believe their eyes ??" along with some of the world's other biggest monuments such as Sydney Harbour. ??sFlying a jet pack is the ultimate freedom,??? David told Jam Press. ??sIt's like riding a motorcycle but in the sky. ??sThere are no words to describe the feeling. ??sIt's something I have dreamt about all my life and now it's real.??? With his initial career as a management consultant, David is a passionate aviator and holds fixed-wing and helicopter pilot certificates. He had always dreamed of creating something that was accessible for the average person ??" and that's how Jetpack Aviation came about. With a small team of engineers, David worked tirelessly to bring his love for aviation to life and allow other people to experience what it's like to fly ??" without much training required. So, how does it actually work? The jet pack has two handles ??" one to move the device forward and backwards and one to control the power and how high the device can fly. You'll be trained for take-off, landing and hovering, but no need to worry about crashing; all training classes are done over water to ensure students are safe. Boris Jarry, the director of operations at the company, shared some common misconceptions about jet packs ??" including that people just don't think they are real. ??sFlying a jetpack is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, it is very unique, something that almost nobody in the world has ever done and people can learn in a very safe way without any risks of injury ??" and that is cool!," Boris Jarry, the director of operations at JetPack Aviation, told Jam Press. ??sThe common misconceptions about jet packs are that people think you can fly on the first go and they are very difficult to fly. "You need training and it's impossible to operate it on one go. ??sOthers think jet packs don???t exist or that you need a pilot license to fly, but that's not true. ??sSome think you need to be athletic but it's not necessary." Out of those who have taken part since the company launched in 2016, most are men and the ages are varied but all genders are welcome and encouraged. The JetPack Aviation programme provides different types of training courses, and course lengths range from a two-day speed course to three weeks of intense training. Attendees are given personal coaching from a certified instructor ??" taking them step-by-step through all the flight manoeuvres. Company pilots and special forces military personnel often undergo the same training regime. However, apart from David and Boris, no one has flown the jet pack off-tether (a rope to prevent users from flying off) ??" so far. Boris believes jet packs might just become the transport mode of the future, adding: ??sWe???re very proud for having pushed forward a way of transportation for the future. ??sThe jetpacks in 10 to 50 years will be different from the ones we have invented but people will definitely change their way to commute in the future.???
