EXCLUSIVE: File images for 2020: A four-year-old disabled girl, who was told she may never walk but raised ?L25,000 for the NHS by walking 25 metres a day, has done a MODELLING shoot for River Island. Pretty Daisy Briggs, who has spina bifida, hydrocephalus, hip dysplasia and talipes, was picked to model River Island???s kidswear fashion and her photo will appear on the store???s website and social media. The little girl was signed by modelling agency Zebedee Management when she was 18 months old and this is her first big job for a high street store. ??sWe???re so proud of Daisy and it???s topped off an amazing year of achievements for her,??? said mum Rea Briggs, from Sutton, South London. ??sWe took her up to London for the shoot in November and she really enjoyed having a fuss made of her and being photographed. The River Island team were lovely and looked after us really well.??? Daisy???s picture, which shows her wearing a pretty floral dress and a blue denim jacket, will be used for River Island???s Spring campaign. Jo Sawkins, Kidswear fashion manager at River Island, said: ??sOur teams absolutely loved working with Daisy, her inspirational and positive personality helped bring our campaign to life and she was great fun on set. ??sWhat an incredible young girl she is and we have thoroughly enjoyed supporting her career this far, we look forward to hopefully working again with her in the future.??? Last year Daisy completed a rainbow mission by walking 25 metres a day with her frame for 64 days during lockdown wearing a different colour of the rainbow, after being inspired by Colonel Tom Moore. She smashed her original fundraising target of ?L100 and even did the last walk without her frame. Her achievement was recognised by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who gave her a Points of Light award. Doctors originally gave Rea the option to terminate her pregnancy after being told Daisy would probably be in a vegetative state when she was born and her chances of walking were almost impossible. She had an operation to close her back at St George???s Hospital when she was just 17 hours old. She then caught suspected meningitis a few days later and she was on antibiotics for three weeks. Doctors noticed her head circumference was getting bigger and at four weeks old she had a shunt fitted to drain away the fluid from her brain, caused by her Hydrocephalus. Daisy was finally allowed home from hospital when she was five weeks old. She has since had three brain surgeries. The money Daisy has raised is going to NHS Charities Together.
