GO WITH STORY BY MAHER AL-MOUNES
Syrians serve rose water, made from Damask Roses (Rosa Damascena), in the village of Marah, north of the capital Damascus, on May 11, 2016. Exported to Europe, especially during the Crusades, this ancient rose has been cultivated in other countries including France, Morocco, Iran and Turkey. With its odor both rich and suave, the Damask rose, which grows naturally in May but can be grown throughout the year, is the most used for the production of essential oils and flower scented cosmetic products. / AFP PHOTO / LOUAI BESHARA
