INDIA HILARIOUS images of a Fan-throated lizard doing the Charleston dance were captured in Solapur, India.
Fan-throated lizards are habitat-specific and are only found in Grasslands.
During their breeding season, they attract a lot of attention because of their unique courtship method, which displays the colourful dewlap of male lizards.
The fan-like structure under their throats is displayed by rapid extension and retraction during the breeding season, and the unique colours are very attractive.
Outside of the mating season, they are generally hard to spot in their habitat due to their tiny size and very well-camouflaged pattern.
These images were captured by a young, 22-year-old wildlife enthusiast, Ratnakar Hiremath, from India.
“It was in 2015 that I learned about these tiny lizards, but it was only this year did I get a chance to photograph them,” he said.
“Due to their small size and very quick movements, it was extremely difficult to photograph them while running.
“You not only have to be in the right place at the right time but also have to be aware of their behaviour and be fast enough to snap a picture because everything happens within a few seconds.
“However, spending enough time with them helped me predict their behaviour and get the results I dreamed of.”
