Peek-a-Boo with the red squirrel ABERDEEN, SCOTLAND HILARIOUS IMAGES of a squirrel playing on a spade handle and looking too pleased with itself when poking its head out of a hole holding a nut have been captured.
Images show an adorable red squirrel showing off for the photographer performing acrobatics on a spade handle then sticking its smug head out of a hole with a nut in its mouth.
The red squirrel or Eurasian red squirrel is a species of tree squirrel in the genus Sciurus common throughout Europe and Asia.
The red squirrel is an arboreal, primarily herbivorous rodent.
In Great Britain, Ireland, and in Italy numbers have decreased drastically in recent years.
These images were captured by offshore oil and gas tank cleaner Mark Deans (37) from Aberdeen Scotland.
Mark captured the cheeky squirrel in Aberdeen, Scotland on his Canon EOS 1D mark three with a sigma 150-600mm contemporary.
“The red squirrels are very quick at finding the nuts in the woods where the hide is placed,” said Mark.
“The squirrel is a good and quick mammal to take pictures of, they have such characters and it looks like they smile at you.
“They are one of the best UK wildlife to take pictures of and very quick and cheeky.
“It’s a beautiful sight to see a red squirrel.
“I feel amazing. Sometimes I can’t keep the smile off my face.”
