These colourful birds appear to argue over who has the prettiest nest as they squabble in midair. The battling baya weavers were spotted in Durgapur, West Bengal, India. The male birds take this job of making the nests, while the females watch and pick their favourite.” “There were occasional fights between the birds to occupy the homes - maybe the winner of the fights gets to choose their favourite partner. They were building nests, which are very artistic. I went to Durgapur to see Baya weavers. It was pre-Covid times. It was the first time I had seen the activities of artist birds in such detail. Male Baya weavers were mostly seen. They are making nests for the wives. I was completely enthralled by the artwork of the weaver bird. However, there were occasional fights between Baya Weavers to occupy the nest home. Maybe the winner of the fight will be the favorite of his partner. After we reached the spot it took quite some time to understand the movements of the birds. They were busy arranging their colony very quickly and carefully. They did not show any objection to our presence. I saw this scene for the first time in my life. It was a wonderful feeling. However, the task of camera-capturing Baya Weaver's activity was very difficult and at the same time very challenging. Because their movement was very fast. Being able to capture some photos of Baya Weavers in action with such beautiful nest weaving is a favorite of mine.
