SNOWS STILL FALLING, TIME TO BURROW IN... A fresh coating of snowfall is SNOW problem for this well-adapted Mountain Hare. The hare was sleeping in a thick blanket of snow before waking up and shaking off the powder, starting its day in the Monadhliath hills, Cairngorms National Park, Scotland. Mountain leader, Gary Hodgson said, ÒAfter walking uphill for an hour and a half, I spent three hours, sitting, and waiting to picture the Mountain Hare without disturbing it. Mountain Hares are supremely adapted to cold and snow and can survive chills of down to -40źC.Ó ÒI always cherish the moments I spend with the hares in their natural environment. It's remarkable how they can sit there and have snow blowing on them without being bothered by it.Ó Please byline: Gary Hodgson/Solent News © Gary Hodgson/Solent News & Photo Agency UK +44 (0) 2380 458800 *** Local Caption *** 1.
