U Aung Moe in his betel nut plantation on a farm east of Dawei in Southern Myanmar on 22nd November 2017. U Aung Moe is one of the plaintiffs in a case againt Eastern Mining Company (EMC) who operate the nearby Pauk Tine tin mine, which they accuse of causing damage to the land. They accuse the mine owners of dumping huge amounts of waste and pollutants into waterways upstream of their farm which have caused flooding and poisoning of their plantations. (Matt Grace for NRGI)
