A Kenyan woman washes clothes on the bank of the Mathioya River in Mathioya Constituency, Muranga County, Kenya on August 20, 2021. - Kenya plays a key role in the global world of sport fishing as one of the world's biggest suppliers of fishing flies for global fly fishers with a growing number of fishing fly factories and small workshops all over the country. At the turn of the 19th century, Rainbow and Brown Trout were introduced to many of Kenya's mountain streams. Kenya has a long history of fly fishing deeply connected with its colonial past. Kenya Fly Fishers' Club (KFFC) began life as the Kenya Angling Association in 1919 becoming the oldest fishing club in Africa.Nowadays, Kenya is a growing destination for tourists wanting to fish trout in its extensive network of rivers and lakes. Also, a growing number of Kenyan individuals and businesses are developing interest in the sport while trying to extricate fly fishing from its colonial past and playing a role in conservation of Kenyan's streams through repopulation of the rivers with fish and other environment programs.
