A Netherlands-based restaurant has unveiled the world's most expensive burger that costs a sizzling ??Z5,000. The ultra-luxurious burger, called ???The Golden Boy???, was crafted by Dutch restaurateur Robbert Jan de Veen of De Daltons diner in Voorthuizen. The burger is presented on a platter of whiskey-infused smoke and loaded with premium ingredients including A5 Wagyu beef, king crab, beluga caviar, vintage Iberico Jamon, smoked duck egg mayo, white truffle, Kopi Luwak coffee BBQ sauce, pickled tiger tomato in Japanese matcha tea, and Dom Perignon infused gold-coated buns. ??sThe ingredients complement each other very well and the flavours are intense.' says owner Robbert. "Even though this burger is extremely costly, you should still use your hands because that???s the only way to eat a burger.' "Since the bun is covered in gold leaf, your fingers will be golden by the time you finish,???. The restaurant owner set out to beat the current record holders when food competitions were cancelled due to COVID-19. ??sBreaking a world record has been a childhood dream of mine and it feels amazing,??? continued Robbert. De Daltons has already won several national and international awards for its hamburgers, loaded fries, sandwiches and hotdogs. The current record for the most expensive hamburger was set in 2011 by a restaurant in Oregon. The burger had a price tag of $5964 (??Z4200) and weighed 352.44 kg (777 lb). ??sThat???s definitely not for one person???, Robbert explained. ??sSo I thought: I can do better than that.??? Robbert???s attempt is currently under review by the Guinness World Records. ??sIt???s been a difficult year with COVID, but good times are ahead for the entire hospitality industry and this is a great start.??? To enjoy the burger at De Daltons, guests must book two weeks in advance and submit a deposit of ??Z750 EUR (approx. $855 USD).
