EXCLUSIVE: **NO NEW YORK POST OR NEWS CORP USAGES** Engineer transforms bike into MAKESHIFT AMBULANCE as India's struggle with second wave of Covid-19 continues. An engineer in India has transformed a bike into a makeshift ambulance ??" in a desperate attempt to counter the ongoing Covid-19 crisis in the country. The local, identified as Ajit Khan, modified a bike into a medical space by attaching a trolley-like platform which can house a bed to carry a patient. It also features an oxygen tank placed adjacently to the bed to aid in treatment of those suffering from the deadly second wave of coronavirus. The ambulance, which looks similar to a wagon attached to a motorbike, has a roof for the patient???s privacy and is covered in bright red with a white and red cross to signify its medical use. Ajit also added shock absorbers at the rear of the bike to ensure a comfortable ride for users. The engineer had the idea late last month after the condition of local hospitals deteriorated and left many patients unable to secure treatment. He used materials he had to hand, spending a total of $337 (USD) on the mobile ambulance ??" which is based in Madhya Pradesh, central India. Although the bike is a prototype and may need more work, Ajit believes that if every block had similar transportation, the number of deaths due to lack of ambulances or available treatment would significantly decline. Over the weekend, India recorded its highest daily coronavirus death toll since the pandemic began and registered more than 400,000 news cases in one day.
