A picture taken on January 4, 2021 shows the Ramses II complex at the ancient Egyptian temple of Abu Simbel, some 1120 kms south of the Egyptian capital Cairo. - Egypt's inauguration of the Aswan High Dam 50 years ago necessitated one of the world's biggest archaeological rescue operations ever, with the massive Abu Simbel ancient temple complex dismantled and hoisted to higher ground to prevent it being swamped by the rising waters. The original site is today completely submerged by Lake Nasser. (Photo by Khaled DESOUKI / AFP)
