As movies go it doesn't get much worthier than '12 Years a Slave' and its female star, Lupita Nyong'o, wants to stick with "worthwhile" roles. Talking with 'DuJour' magazine in the USA, the Hollywood newcomer, 31, said: "I always want to be part of stories that are worthwhile." Proclaiming that she hopes her future career is "governed by the material" the New York-based actress added: "They don't all have to be as heavy as '12 Years a Slave'. I always want to have integrity and not compromise that." Nyong'o has just won the Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her part in the film about slavery. The British director, Steve McQueen, described her audition as "astonishing" after he fruitlessly saw over 1,000 girls for the role. "I had to cast her in the movie. It was almost as if she came off the page of the book," he said. Pictured: Lupita Nyong'o Splash News and Picture Agency does not claim any Copyright or License in the attached material.
