WORKING FOR PEANUTS. Peanuts are left to dry in the sun on the dried up Brahmaputra River in Kurigram, Bangladesh. The images were taken by Shafiul Islam from Dhaka, Bangladesh. The 29 year old said: “When rivers in North Bengal dry up they are used to cultivate peanuts. Local traders buy the raw nuts from farmers before cleaning them and leaving them to dry here in the sun” “In the last year about three hundred hectares of land have been used to cultivate the nuts. Workers will work 8-9 hours a day in the heat of the sun from morning till afternoon.
