She shares her secrets with the world. The Netherlands: AN ENTREPRENEUR has shared her top five secrets on how YOU can retire by 40 on an independent income of Ł28K per year. Retired business owner Fleur Pullen (42) managed to achieve financial freedom, retire early and live her dream of travelling the world. Fleur was born in the Netherlands and grew up wanting to travel the world, but as life progressed her dream of travelling moved further and further away. In 2006, Fleur fell into a career in government, taking up almost all of her hours and meaning time for travel was extremely limited. In 2011, Fleur started her own company, Ynnovate an innovation training company that helps people working in the public sector to boost their innovation skills. It was at this point that Fleur started saving money, wanting to create a financial buffer due to the risks associated with being an entrepreneur. Even with her own company, Fleur found she was limited in her freedom to roam the world so had to push back, making a masterplan that would enable her to achieve her goal of financial freedom. Fleur came up with four steps to help achieve her goal, nicknaming it FIRE (Financial Independence Retire Early). These steps were determining what their goal was, cutting expenses as much as possible, paying for real estate in cash and creating a passive income. Fleur earns a passive income of Ł1,169 per month from real estate and Ł1,212 from her business per month for a total of Ł2,381 a month. She is also a shareholder of her company, bringing in some extra money through dividends. However, this is not a steady amount as it varies due to how the business is doing, meaning she relies more heavily on the other methods. Thanks to all of this, Fleur was able to retire before her 40th birthday.
