Fabryka Moskwicza

This photograph taken on April 18, 2024 shows employes of "Moskvich" automobile plant as they work on the production line in Moscow. Moskvich was a Soviet automobile brand produced by Automobile Plant named by Lenin's Komsomol (AZLK) plant from 1946 to 1991. The factory, which had been renamed to "Moskvich" in the early 1990s, filed for bankruptcy in 2002 and ceased production. A part of the abandoned plant was acquired by Avtoframos, later renamed as Renault Russia, and in 2005 commenced assembly of Renault Logan sedans. In 2015, Renault announced they had begun the process for obtaining the Moskvich rights in Russia. Later in March 2022, Renault "suspended" the Renault Russia operations and had agreed to sell the company back to the Moscow government. Now, the Moscow city relaunched Moskvich-badged production. Currently, the plant produces 3 car models under the "Moskvich" brand, one of which is an electric car. Last week, the Moskvich plant presented the design of a new model - the "Moskvich-8" family seven-seat crossover, which is planned for production and sale at the end of this year.
