EXCLUSIVE: **NO NEW YORK POST OR NEWS CORP USAGES** Story from Jam Press (Battle Of The Birds) Pictured: Two kestrels fight over a meal. BATTLE OF THE BIRDS: Heating engineer captures STUNNING photos of kestrels fighting in the wild An amateur photographer has captured incredible photos of two kestrels fighting over a meal in the wild in a true battle of the birds. Dave Newman, 41, spotted the two kestrels in their natural habitat near his home in Sleaford, Lincolnshire, a few weeks ago, when he caught them trying to devour a meal. After gaining permission from the farmer who owned the land, he set up and waited as the scene unfolded. Wildlife photography is no easy feat, which meant the heating engineer was forced to stay put for hours on end to capture the magnificent photos of the birds fighting for their feast. One mesmerising image shows one of the kestrels appearing as if it falling off a stump, while the other is dangerously hovering above. The pair eventually take their fight to the ground, struggling with each other on the grass. It's not clear which kestrel was victorious but the photographer got a taste of the fire burning in their bellies, as one of them stared straight into the camera as he snapped a shot ??" with its eyes almost piercing through the lens. As a building, heating and electrical engineer by day, Dave pursues his passion for photography in his spare time, capturing the flora and fauna of the UK???s countryside. ??sI came across a nesting site local to my house In Sleaford a week or two back and have been watching them,??? Dave told Jam Press. ??sI needed farmers permission to access his land to watch the kestrels, this is where I put up my pop-up hide. ??sAt times, the kestrels move fast and I had no idea which direction they are coming from, but after watching them for a while I begin to understand their movements. ??sMy hide is a 360 version, so I was able to watch them better. ??sI mainly shoot wildlife; however, I do like pets as well. "My favourite area of photography is wildlife for sure. ??sThe hunting, the watching and the learning of different behaviours and characteristics of animals is incredible.???
