Under the presidency of General Gouraud, war hero and former military Governor of Paris, the Franco-American Lafayette Committee to which belong a number of prominent Americans and other friends of France and many French society people, has been formed to send bags of kit and useful articles and food to French soldiers. The first shipments were organized on October 19 in the Paris Squash Racquets Center. The bags piled up for the first shipment and some of the committee and contributors in Paris on Oct. 19, 1939.
