A local resident of Manyangalo village - a farming settlement situated within the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy's (LWC) - unwinds barbed wire to create a security fence around his vegetables patch at the Manyangalo village on July 31, 2021, during a visit by LWC's general security unit rangers. - Rangers asses the damage on an electrical fence meant to keep wildlife out as food crops suffered regular raids by baboons encroaching from the conservancy in Meru, in a farming settlement situated within the LWC. Despite the global condemnation of poaching and the resources that have been mobilised to safeguard endangered wildlife, well-funded and well-equipped poaching groups continue to pose a real threat to Africa's wildlife.
