FARDC troops are seen at the town of Nobili, on the border of DR Congo and Uganda. The road from Nobili to Beni runs straight through the area of operations of the ADF and little civilian traffic is possible, the towns of Nobili and Kamango are thus mostly isolated from the rest of DR Congo, as well as suspected points of traffic and trade for ADF militants. The FARDC (Congolese Army) is heavily engaged with the islamist militants of the ADF, who have pledged their allegiance to the Islamic State terror group. Beni Territory is informally known as being home to the 'Triangle of Death' as the site of widespread killings by the group.
