Nzale Rhuye Francoise (61) and her husband and five children were on friendly terms with Charlotte Ngayelle Tabo and her husband and seven children before militants burnt down their village in June 2019. "We were on friendly terms with them," said Framcoise, "but since we were forced to move to this camp we have become much closer." Their friendship is especially poignant because Francoise comes from the Hema community and Charlotte comes from the Lendu community. The two tribal groupings are often bitterly at loggerheads and most of the displacements in this part of DRC have been attributed directly or indirectly to their enmity. Loda IDP camp in Fataki, Ituri, Congo holds several thousand displaced people. It adjoins a large MONUSCO base. And has been the recipient of UNICEF NFI on at least two occasions along with the help of UNICEF local NGO partner PPSSP. Most of the shelters are made up of tarpaulins and bound tree leaves. at dawn and in the evening wood smoke mixes with the mist. Most displaced people are Hemas, but there are some Lendus in the camp.
