EXCLUSIVE: **NO NEW YORK POST** Story from Jam Press (Raw Diet Cures Acne) // Pictured: Amy Masson before switching to a raw food diet containing only fruit and vegetables. // Woman who was forced to sleep with bandages to stop severe acne HEALS SKIN after going on RAW FOOD ONLY DIET // A woman who developed severe acne after going vegan has revealed how she healed her skin by switching to a fruit and vegetables only diet. Amy Masson, 29, from Australia, had never suffered from skin problems until she turned 27 and unexpectedly had a major acne breakout. The condition became so extreme that, at one point, the young woman was forced to sleep with bandages over her skin each night to stop the scabs from splitting open and bleeding over her pillow. Amy would wake up everyday feeling miserable and like she was ??sstuck in a nightmare???, feeling ??sdirty??? and ??sugly??? because of her skin. The issues caused her to develop serious mental health problems, leaving the young girl depressed. "It wasn???t until March 2018, after going vegan for health, that I began experiencing skin issues and painful cysts on my cheeks, neck and jawline," Amy told Jam Press. ??sI woke up every day feeling miserable and like I was stuck in a nightmare. "I tried to keep living my life as normal but it was exhausting pretending to be okay. ??sEvery night I had to tape a gauze over my scabs to stop them from splitting open and bleeding in my sleep. ??sI couldn???t wear makeup on my face so I had to go to work with big red bloody crusts on my cheeks that were heavy and would crack apart when I smiled. ??sIt wasn't unusual for me to sit in an alleyway or a toilet cubicle, crying, on my lunch break at work. "Nobody in the office ever said anything but I could feel what they were all thinking. ??sMy skin made me feel dirty and ugly, and as though I had some sort of disease. These feelings carried on wherever I went. ??sThe only thing that made me feel better was exercise ??" the gym and pole dancing for fun. ??sEventually, I started having suicidal thoughts. ??sI was too afraid to ever act on them but acne felt like the worst thing to happen to me. "I didn???t have anyone to talk to about what was going on, and even my parents didn???t know how I felt. I spent pretty much all my time alone. ??sI didn???t want to go to doctors or therapy, as I figured they would send me back to the dermatologist or put me on antidepressants. Eventually, Amy's family convinced her to go to a dermatologist but the experience left her feeling underwhelmed and confused. She said: ??sDuring the consultation I didn't even have my skin physically examined and there was no discussion of my diet or lifestyle. ??sIn fact, when I asked about the relationship of food to our skin, she said there was no connection. ??sI decided then and there that I would discover how to fix my skin naturally.??? Amy began experimenting with foods to see what triggered her acne and eventually settled on a fruit only diet, which she claims has now cleared her skin. She said: ??sI started using things like Manuka honey, aloe vera, coconut oil, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, activated charcoal and green tea on my skin. ??sI was already vegan but I decided to really ramp up my intake of fruits and veggies and get rid of processed vegan food like gluten, soy and oils. ??sI learned a lot about the toxins we accumulate through our food, air and water and how it was important to buy our food organic where we could, so I decided to start shopping at the farmer's markets for my produce and at the same time I bought my first juicer. ??sA few months later, I came across Dr Robert Morse on YouTube, who advocates a diet of raw food and fruit to detoxify and regenerate the human body. ??sI went into full research mode and came across lots of amazing people who???d been living this way and were absolutely thriving. ??sWhat really stood out to me was how healthy, vibrant and young they all looked. Nobody had wrinkles, under-eye bags, saggy skin or grey hair.??? Amy switched from her vegan diet to a completely raw diet made up mainly of fresh fruit, with some veggies thrown in for her evening meal. But things would get worse before they got better. She said: ??sBefore going raw, I was eating a whole food cooked vegan diet. ??sThis included a lot of grains, beans, nuts, as well as fruit and vegetables. ??sLooking back, it was actually a great stepping stone into the raw and fruit-based lifestyle. ??sI started to see an improvement almost at once, however, because fruits are so detoxifying my skin then got worse. ??sI purged all over my cheeks and developed a rosacea-like rash on both sides of my face. There were many times it felt like I was taking one step forward and three steps back. ??sIt took a while to settle and I was often scared I was making things worse. "Now I am eating the same diet but my skin is healing! I don???t really get active breakouts anymore, it's just scarring I have to deal with.??? Talking about her mental health problems, Amy added: ??sI???d never understood what somebody with acne really goes through until I went through it myself. ??sIt has a way of taking over your life and really warping your sense of self. I went from being confident, happy and social, to embarrassed, shy and ashamed. ??sAcne took a toll on my self-worth and confidence, making me feel unworthy and undesirable, especially to the opposite sex. ??sWhen I was getting invited to social events, I???d cancel without a second thought. I was too afraid to see old friends again because I worried what they would think of me and I stayed away from dating apps. ??sI hated thinking that people were looking at me and judging me for something out of my control. ??sI felt hopeless and completely alone at this time. I couldn???t look at myself in a mirror without welling up and feeling like a stranger in my own skin. ??sPeople on the street and on public transport would stare right at my skin, never in my eyes, and I even once had a stranger ask what happened to my face.??? Amy has now shared her diet but recommends anyone keen to try it to go vegan before switching to a raw fruits diet, in order to give the body time to adjust. Diet before (vegan) Breakfast: A big bowl of oats with frozen berries, almonds, chia seeds, ground flaxseed and almond milk. Decaf coffee. Lunch: Handful of nuts/ or pitted dates/ or an apple or banana Dinner: Lentil burgers, vegetable soups, rice and veggies, coconut curry, Kale salad with sauerkraut, cucumber, tomato, cabbage and chickpeas/ or sushi/ or avocado on toast Snacks and drinks: Decaf coffee, 1-2 nectarines Diet now Breakfast: 8-10 sliced oranges or juice Lunch: Smoothie or 1L of fruit or vegetable juice Dinner: Salad or steamed veggies Snacks and drinks: 5 mandarins or 4 plums ENDS Pictured: Amy Masson World Rights, No Australia Rights, No Russia Rights, No United Kingdom Rights
