Reverend Canon Bob White of St Mary's Church, Portsea, Hants addressing the camera (black cylinder in foreground) to deliver a prayer of thanks giving, during a live streamed service to his parishioners. The Vicar of St Mary's Portsea and Area Dean of Portsmouth streams a mass a day and has delievered around 300 streamed services since the start of the pandemic back in March last year. The streams are posted to both YouTube and Facebook. Revd Canon Bob White said, "The Streaming of services are hugely important to people in our local communities and those from our church community who have been unbale to gather together. In the midst of so much uncertainty and change they have provided a focus for stability and hope" During this third lockdown the Government hasn't closed churches nor have the Church of England but it has been left to the parish's discretion if they are to hold services with a congregation, so long as it can be done safely during. In the first lockdown of the Covid-19 pandemic churches were forced by the Government to close their doors to in-person church services. St Mary's Church has taken the decision to take all masses online once again during this third lockdown with one service being stream daily but the doors remain closed during it. The church however is still open for private individual prayer. ? Simon Czapp/Solent News & Photo Agency UK +44 (0) 2380 458800
