It was taken in Texas. They said: "I live in Arizona but was visiting family members in El Paso, Texas that week. Very early on the morning of November 6th I woke up and felt an urge to check my radar app on my phone. I discovered a discrete thunderstorm cell was moving north from Mexico towards the U.S. border near downtown El Paso. I hurriedly gathered my camera gear and drove to an overlook that gave me a perfect vista of the storm and of the downtown El Paso skyline. It's always been a "dream shot" of mine to capture lightning over this desert city landscape. Weather Photographer of the Year - 2020 An incredible picture of people crossing Brooklyn Bridge in New York in a blizzard has been picked as the winner in the Weather Photographer of the Year contest. Rudolf Sulgan's image, Blizzard, was chosen as the overall winner from 7,700 entries in the competition, organised by the Reading-based Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS), which celebrates its 170th anniversary this year. The popular competition, which is now in its fifth year and run in association with AccuWeather, attracted entries from around the world. They ranged from weather phenomena such as clouds, lightning, rain, fog or snow through to the impact of weather on humans, cities and the natural landscape. More than 2,600 photographers submitted images, creating a challenging task for the judging panel.
